What to know here
- The OSSF process changed on January 1, 2026. It moved from the Sheriff’s Office to Development Services — older guides still list the old routing.
- Permit fees are paid at the Support Services Building, 218 N Waco St, Monday–Friday 8am–4:30pm, (254) 283-6846. Cash, check, or card (convenience fee applies). Inspections are coordinated by the OSSF Designated Representative once fees are paid.

- Commercial and RV park permits need TCEQ approval on top of the county Designated Representative, which can add substantial delay to the Authorization to Construct.

Before you call the county
Most permit applications need the same core set of documents: a site evaluation by a licensed site evaluator or professional engineer, planning materials showing the proposed system and its layout, a plat or survey with the legal description, a confirmed 911 address, the applicable fee, and a recorded affidavit to the public where the system type requires one. Aerobic systems also need an executed maintenance contract.
